Ace Simple Series F4U-Corsair
1/2a
Super Tigre GP-.07 engine, 6x4 prop, JR
Computer Radio system

This is the Ace Simple Series F4-U Corsair 1/2a size combat plane.
The wing is all foam construction, while the fuse and tail surface is
built up balsa. This plane builds very fast with no hassles or mysteries.
The instructions could be better, but any intermediate builder can have it
done in a weekend. I used a Dean's base loaded antenna on my Hitec
555 receiver, which is powered by a 270mah receiver pack. The servos
are all JR-241 minis, but you can install standard servos in it and it will
fly just fine.

I covered it with Ultrakote since it can be ironed on with less heat
over foam wings and such. I didn't have the right shade of light blue
for the bottom so I used light grey. The bottom is hard to see on cloudy days,
so I usually fly it inverted.

These photos were taken by our club president, Patrick Deuser. It
was pretty cold and windy for the test flight, but what the hell.

One last shot before ignition.

Engine is running good...it's time to launch.

And she's off! The first launch was a little scary because I had the throws
setup too high. After adjusting the rates it flew much better.

A high fly-by nice and steady. It's amazing how well these little 1/2a planes
fly, especially in wind. I flew for about 10 minutes and still had fuel to burn
from my 2oz. tank. This Ace Corsair costs $34.95, and is worth every penny.
I'm thinking of getting another one and making it look really scale. The Thunder-
Tiger GP.07 engine really comes to life if you use a 5.5 or 6x4 prop and is a great
little engine for less than $50.
