This is an old "red box" version of the Top Flite AT-6.   When I got this it was in
pretty bad shape and was covered with monokote and painted over.  I had to fix
the damaged areas, rip off the old painted covering, cover it, hinge all the surfaces,
and install my engine/radio gear.  I flew it for the first time tonight (6/21/01) and it
flew pretty good.  The first flight was shakey because I didn't know if this bird would
tip-stall like my P-51 Mustang tends to do all the time.  The second flight went much
better, and it landed with the ease of a low-wing sport plane.  The plane weighs just
over 9 pounds empty, which is kind of heavy, but the weight of the Spring Air retracts
is worth it.  This bird looks very nice in the air with the gear up doing low passes.

I decided just to glue the flaps on the wing because they were in pretty
bad shape and would have required a lot of work to make them functional
again.  To be honest, I didn't expect this plane to fly at all, but I was pleasantly
surprised when it flew like a champ.
