Midwest 27% Extra 300, 80 Inch
wingspan
Moki 2.10, Zinger 20x8 prop, JR 8103
Computer Radio system

Here is the repaired Extra 300 at our IMAA fly-in a few months ago. It flew great,
and now has a Moki 2.10 on it. I used the big Robart elbow hinges throughout and
got rid of all the "EZ" hinges that came with the kit. I've also installed
Hitec Metal Gear
high torque servos instead of the JR crap that strips out.
The following pics are of the constuction with a Quadra 40 installed.
I've since installed
a Moki 2.10.

Here is the Extra still in the bones with engine mounted. I have a lot more finished
on
this bird but wanted to wait until it was completely done before I post more pictures.

Here is a shot of the early stages of wing construction. This was about a week ago.
The wing is all done now...just waiting for a roll of True Red Ultrakote to come in.

Here you can see a JR 4131 servo on on half of the elevator. I used 4-40 hardware
on all surfaces contrary to the manufacturers 2-56 hardware reccomendation. It's
using a pull-pull rudder system, with 4131's all around.

Here's a shot of the plumbing for gas and smoke. I've not tested the smoke system
yet
because I'm still fiddling with the engine...trying to get that perfect rpm. I'll
post more
pictures soon.

Here she is...all finished and ready for taxi. I've run the engine here
in the back yard and Kyle Walker helped to get it running just right.

Here's the bottom detail which isn't an exact replica of Patty's plane,
but it's close enough for me. Besides, not many people are going to
see the bottom of this plane...even in the air :)

I used an MPI Pro-Spin aluminum spinner and it fit perfectly with no
need to grind it out for the prop. The entire plane is covered with
Ultrakote, and only the white part of the cowl is painted.

All the checkers are cut from Ultrakote, and the red part of the cowl
is Ultrakote as well. Here you can see howbig this plane is next to my
hefty black cat, Wyatt.
